15 Months Already??

Erase that evidence... a lady never tells her weight!
Well, if we're being technical, Reagan was 15 months back on February 8th but due to scheduling we just had our 15 month checkup at the pediatrician today.  Besides the fact Reagan's now old enough to throw a fit or know when something's coming that she won't like, it was a great appointment!  It took a little squirming and screaming but her height came out to be OFF THE CHARTS and her weight was right on track with the curve she started when she was born.

Length at 15 Months: 34.5 inches (literally off the chart)
Weight at 15 Months: 25 pounds, 8 ounces (approximately 80th percentile)

Reagan started talking the doctors ear off as soon as she entered the room, which prompted the doctor to say "obviously she's pretty chatty"... um, I think that's an understatement, the doctor should be happy that she didn't receive the hand talking that usually accompanies Reagan's talking points.  After we discussed her development and abilities at this age, the doctor was impressed and said she's doing everything she should be and then some!!!!  Score ;)

Downside to this appointment?!?!

The "Quit the Bottle" discussion and 2 shots that "are going to sting her unfortunately" according to the nurse.  As if being 9 months pregnant taking care of an extremely active toddler isn't enough, now I need to rock the boat and cut the bottle at bedtime cold turkey.  Warm milk in a bottle is the only way this child drinks milk and going to bed with a bottle is just as comfortable to her as her beloved giraffe.  Now before you judge me for letting her go to bed with a bottle at this age and bottle rot and all... let me tell you that we are diligent with brushing Reagan's teeth and she herself will walk around brushing her teeth because she thinks it's fun.

Back to cutting the bottle cold turkey... naptime was pretty easy without a bottle but bedtime was a whole different story.  We did our night time routine as usual, except cut out the bottle, and after 2 hours of screaming, crying, and me going in to rock her, I finally gave in and let her lay in my bed until Ryan was due home a few minutes later.  Part of me thinks she was just trying to wait for him to get home because after a few minutes of snuggle time with her Daddy, Reagan went down without a bottle and finally WENT TO SLEEP... granted it was close to 10pm, but I'll take the win that she fell asleep without a bottle.

Next checkup 3 months, although obviously they'll be seeing us before that since we have to take Baby Boy in within a week of his birth.

On a side note, we stopped by the Malvern School today to collect Reagan's belongings she had there and to say goodbye to her teachers and friends.  At first I felt bad that we took her out because she enjoyed playing with all the toys and get ups they had out for the kids... but as soon as we went into her  former classroom to get her stuff, the meltdown started and she made sure to be attached to me.  She was doing everything in her power to make sure I was not leaving her there.  And with that, my conscience was assured that bringing her home was a great decision!

Growing Up Is Hard To Do

Reagan started going to "school" back August at The Malvern School... just three days a week.  Something to do so her curious nature was met, and play alongside other little kids since she seems to enjoy that so much.  I thought, never would my baby want to leave and go here, but boy was I wrong.  She loves school... well, the correct phrase would be LOVED school.  She did love school when she was in the infant room with Miss Nadine and Miss Stephanie and her typical routine was practiced.

She has now been bumped up to the "young toddlers" room where the requirements are more fit for her capabilities and age... walks unassisted, feeds self, naps once a day, etc.  At first we were excited because she can do all of those things and then some, but then comes the emotional attachment Reagan has to certain people and specific routines.  After four months in her infant room, she grew to love her teachers and knew what to expect of her day in that room.  Now in the young toddler room, she has new teachers and a whole new routine to become accustomed to.  Thankfully, the one thing I swore she would have trouble with - sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag - was her easiest transition yet.

Because this change in rooms happened right after the Christmas break, where she was home for 11 days and used to being with Mommy & Daddy all the time, Reagan is having a much harder making the switch.  Drop-off has become torturous for whichever one of us does it, since Reagan will attach to you and make sure to start crying lifting her arms up to be picked up.  When I return at the end of the day to pick her up, I'd expect to hear that the crying ended and she had a great day.  But each day now comes with the feedback that "she had a couple of crying spells when she would see her former teachers walk by" or some similar type of event.

With all of this information and my being on maternity leave for the next 6 months, we decided that Reagan will be in school only Tuesdays and Thursdays for February and we are highly considering bringing her home all together.  I'm sure she would adjust to the new routine and new teachers but since I'm going to be home with the new baby for a while, there's really no necessity to keeping her in school.  More work for me?  Absolutely.  Worth my pretty princess' happiness? Absolutely.

Infant Room Recital

Reagan participated in her first school recital on Thursday!  And I say recital very generously as the infant room was only responsible for one song... Jingle Bells, which meant the teachers were singing along to music and the kids were supposed to shake their bells.  They all walked into the room bright-eyed to see a mass amount of people clapping for them and then they sat down in their line to begin their performance.  Unfortunately, once they all saw their parents they decided to make a run for it.  It was still an absolutely adorable attempt at Christmas cheer by the infants, loved it :)

She really was excited to go to school, despite the look on her face above.
She was just upset I put her down & couldn't pick her up right away.

From L to R: Miss Nadine, Aiden, Sophia, Miss Stephanie, Gioviana, Reagan, Leo, David, & Miss Barb
Most of the kids decided to get up in the middle of the song once they saw their parents.

Safe & sound with her Daddy, and ready to go on Christmas break until the new year!

Reagan's 1st Day of School

Reagan started her first day of school yesterday at The Malvern School of Washington Township.  She's attending school three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, as I start to increase my work days with Lilly.  Ryan and I both took her since it was her first day, and she barely even noticed us once she got on the ground and saw the other kids.    When I went to pick her up in the afternoon, she was at the snack table (a large crescent-shaped table that has chairs insert in the middle so all the kids are contained and the teacher can feed all of the them) eating her watermelon snack I made for her.  The report from her teachers is that she is an incredibly happy baby and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the other kids.  So all in all, it was a huge success :)
